thief

You gain it yet it steals from you

the pleasure of a smile not derived from it;

the touch of a laugh not spent on it; and

the warmth of a love not drenched in it.

So I beg you, my dear friend,

do not fear a lack of it,

or be a slave to it,

for it brings happiness

knowing your life is worth much more than it.
